Leathercraft, Jewelcraft & the First Summoning Overhaul
August 17, 2026 · Enael
More updates! I was out and about this weekend so this list is a bit
smaller than the previous ones.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where sorcerers couldn't view the summoning and arcane helpfile tree.
- Fixed an issue where cloaking would permanently alter the room name of players. For those affected, just cloak and uncloak to restore your character's intro.
- Autolights now correctly extinguish at sunrise.
Admin Goodies
- Possess command added. If a demon is getting summoned, an immortal can hijack the summoning and roleplay the demon instead of the coded routines.
- Grantrelic added, for imms who decide to possess a demon and the roleplay quality is deemed high enough.
Features and Balancing
- Leatherworking reworked into the new system prototype, Leathercraft, with 52 recipes and 33 new items locked in.
- Jewelcrafting implemented under the new crafting system: precious metals and 50 recipes. Several new recipes added to Blacksmithing for jeweling tools.
- Left ear and right ear wear slots added for earrings, now available via jeweling.
- Origami ability removed from the game.
- Smith remapped to Jewelcraft. Player files that already have this skill will be remapped to the new ability.
- Tan remapped to Leathercraft. Same as above, on login.
- Food no longer decomposes.
- Added the
break command, which lets you split a piece of food from another item with multiple bites.
- Demon summoning received the Astral treatment and went through a massive upgrade. Have a look, if you dare.
- Those following the Path of Demons can get access to rituals and spells exclusively learned from Void entities, and powerful relics, if you've pleased your new patron enough.
Demon summoning is taboo in Islesmud and can get you killed by your peers or law enforcement.
